didn't do much today, went with my mommy to the mall cuz she had to buy some furniture for our apartment which we are renting out to a japanese expat.. just accompanied her and carried stuff like a good son should, also had my watches cleaned, fixed, and bought a battery for another other than that didn't do much
i did however manage to watch "Apocalypse now redux", its the enhanced version of Francis Ford Coppola's classic "Apocalypse now", a great movie.. watched it back in high school but i don't think i ever really appreciated its greatness and meaning, it easily has to be one of the best movies ever made about war, not because of the action but because of the sheer reality and horror of what war can do people and countries.. the cast was quite amazing as well with actors like Martin Sheen, Robert Duvall, Marlon Brando, and then youngsters Lawerence Fishburne & Harrison Ford.. the set as well was quite amazing considering the magnitude and the time the film was made (1979), most of it was shot here in the good ol Philippines, although most of the movie is based in vietnam and cambodia, i heard somewhere as well that Coppola had to secure the permission of then dictator Marcos to make the film with all the choppers, boats and what not, i think he even borrowed a few choppers and vehicles from the Philippine army... anyway, a great movie as well, cinematography, sound, editing, lighting, everything is superb.. watch it if you have time..
alright just a quick update on what i did x-mas day... had lunch with my cousins from my mom's side and then after that went to the wake of the dad of Conrad and Neil Trinidad.. you know its weird cuz x-mas is suppposed to be a day of celebration and joy, but for me it wasn't that.. i kept thinking to myself how awful it must be to lose a loved one especially at this time of the year, and to compound that feeling, on our way to the wake a bunch of street kids came running to our car begging for money.. its sad that so many children around the world don't even have a bite to eat while here we are stuffing our faces till we can't take anymore.. not try to bring anybody down, but it just makes me thank God for every little thing he has blessed me with, and i think my new year's resolution will be to try and help out in the community more, try and do something positive for people who really need the help.. anyway, my parents and i paid our condolences and then went home and then left for our x-mas dinner with my dad's side of the family.. and that was basically my x-mas day...
on a much brighter note, all i did today was sleep and relax.. woke up to watch the sac vs. la game but they didn't show the live broadcast, so i went back to sleep.. after dinner went to the hospital to visit jay's dad who's guna have his kidney stones removed tomorrow morning.. he looks like he's doing well...
just watched Part I of the Money Collection DVD, which is composed of "Made" and "Swingers"... haven't seen "Made" yet but i have seen "Swingers" several times.. the movie is just so money! jon favreau is just a genius.. i love these movies that are from fresh writers such as "Swingers" and "Good Will Hunting" which was written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck of course.. also the movies by Kevin Smith which i wrote about a few days ago.. anyway, "Swingers" is just so money cuz of the dialogue and because of the way all guys can relate to the movie.. i also love the scenes that it rips off from Reservoir Dogs (Quentin Tarantino) and Goodfellas (Martin Scorsece) both which are excellent movies as well.. the one from Reservoir Dogs is the scene that i think everyone else has ripped off Scorsece and Tarantino, the slow mo walk of all the characters.. then there's the scene from Goodfellas where Ray Liota walks through the kitchen to the bar all in one shot which spans for about a minute and half.. a very tough task to do.. anyway, the movie was great, and if you haven't watched it then pick up a copy now!
"Baby, you're so money and you don't even know it!"- Trent
MERRY X-MAS to everyone! before i talk about my x-mas i'd just like to fill everyone in on what i did last night.. anyway, Scott and Gordon Boyd are back here in Manila for the holidays, so we all went out.. its always a really great time whenever anybody from JIS comes back here or comes here to visit.. anyway, we went to this place called ponticelo, and we just stayed there the whole night just drinking, talking, and catching up on each others lives and remembering the good times in jakarta, it was a good break from the monotony of my life here.. paolo cabalfin and jenny collado were also with us and we actually also met up with the Lanes from Jakarta, they were there before, the Lanes as in the owners of Lane Movers.. pretty cool huh.. anyway it was a lot fun...
Scott, Gordon, Jenny, Paolo, and i
as for x-mas eve, didn't do much, just went to mass and had dinner with my family.. on a sadder note, for those of you who knew either Conrad or Neil Trinidad, their father passed away just today, died of a heart attack, its really sad considering it is a time to rejoice and be happy.. lets all pray for the Trinidads and the soul of Tito Bert...
Merry X-mas to you and your family from my family and i
finally watched The Two Towers yesterday with jay , cat, & cel... it was the advanced screening so we were a little worried about getting good seats but lucky for us cat has some major skillz in cutting in lines! anyway, the movie was great, not being biased as a lord of the rings fan but it was really good! the only thing that could be improved upon was the volume of some of the characters speaking lines.. it was kind of hard to catch what legolas, arogan, or gimley said at some points in the movie due to the loud background music or due to the speed in delivery by the actors.. other than that, the movie was quite mind blowing! the war scene was awesome, and the computer generated images of the tree things and golum were amazing.. great movie, although i sometimes hate watching action or serious movies with jay because we both some how seem to make a joke out of everything and anything.. we both noticed however that there were some homosexual tendencies in arogon, legolas, and even the little gimley.. maybe its just us but i swear it sometimes looked like that fellowship was a little to friendly... anyway, if you haven't seen it yet.. GO WATCH IT! its that good!.. out
