the contender... unfortunately a great show must come to an end, watched the contender finale at con's place with lo, and jay and the rest of the alampay clan.. the finale itself was not that great, was actually unintentionally funny at times, throughout the entire season i was always struggling to understand what sly was mumbling and the finale was no exception, no offense to sly, he has after all brought us some of the most memorable movie characters ever, rocky, john rambo, judge dread, "i am the law!".. sorry couldn't help it.. but to continue, sly just doesn't look like the smartest cookie on the block, it looks like he wants to take a nap after a 5 minute conversation about anything other than boxing or movies.. i'm one to talk though, i feel like napping after a 3 minute conversation about anything.. other funny moments during the finale.. sugar ray and some of his comments.. i love sugar ray and he was one tough son of b back in the day, but i think he took way to many head shots, has anyone else noticed how slow and deliberate his speech is??? you know a person was a boxer if they talk slow and deliberately... sugar though, that guy was money.. another comment on the finale, i'm sorry but the color commentary by sly, sugar, alfonso, and that other guy just was not very good...
other than that i came away happy after watching the finale solely because the two fighters i was rooting for came out on top, alfonso beat jessie for 3rd, and sergio moro "the latin snake" took home the 1 million dollars and the title of the contender.. overall the season was good, although i must confess i didn't start getting into it until late in the first round.. i just wish anthony bonsante could've made it to the final four, would have been interesting to see how far he would've gone.. if not for that lucky uppercut from jesse, i think anthony would've won it all cuz that guy hits hard..
last words... i hope they come out with a second contender.. that show was damn entertaining..
