sin city...
in what has become a sunday ritual, i don't know if its just plain gay or not, but anyway, jay and i took to the theatres again to catch the latest flick, last week it was Madagascar which was pretty good but not as good as i expected it to be.. to continue.. we decided upon Frank Miller's "Sin City" brought to the big screen by ganyus director Robert Rodriguez.. truly a visually stunning experience, never seen a movie like that, the way it was shot, the color contrasts of black and white and the occasional color brilliant i must say! the story as well was good, was cool how the three different stories within the movie tied all together some how through plot twists or through the characters.. its also a plus that there was quite a bit of eye candy, namely jessica alba, and rosario dawson, both wearing garments that could hardly even count as a shirt, let alone pants or a skirt... just a great movie, unfortunately, being in a country that claims its conservative, a lot of the scenes were cut, which left me wondering, "what am i missing?".. a must get on dvd!

on a similar note, well not really, yesterday was the official start of our poker nights.. well for me it may be the first and last.. lets put it this way, jay came out as the big winner and me, i came out as the very generous friend who likes to share his money with others (in other words i was the big lose) regardless of the fact that i'll be eating instant noodles and crackers for the next week, the night in itself was fun.. brian our good friend from back in the day also joined and enlightened us with a few rules or etiquete (man i know i totally butchered that word, i'm sorry) of poker.. namely, don't throw your chips, don't talk to much, don't laugh too much, don't brag, and a few other rules, safe to say we followed none of them which made the night a whole lot of fun! you know its funny cuz several people tell me i'm too serious yet if i was tasked to bluff for my life i'd end up dead.. really need to work on a poker face.. i scream in joy like a little girl when i have a good hand and automatically fold or hang myself when i have a bad hand.. maybe some people just aren't cut out for poker, we'll see as poker night will swing to my house next week.. maybe the home court advantage will do me some good... then again maybe not..

last words...
finals start tomorrow, two good teams but honestly.. Spurs vs. Pistons in the NBA finals= yawn...

life and death...
how do you console a friend that has tragically lost his 15 year old sister without a warning.. i ask this because this has happened to my friend.. words can not describe the absolute shock and sadness that he and his family must feel.. his 15 year old sister who was healthy just a couple of days ago just collapsed and died sunday night.. out of the blue her blood vessels in her lungs popped and that was it.. i usually don't like going to wakes but this one was even worse because i knew that no one was prepared for this one, often the wakes i visit are for those who have passed away because of age or because of a sickness so in a sense the people are some what prepared for the passing, but for incidents like this where the passing is out of the blue and so sudden, the wakes are excrutiating, you feel so much for the family members and all those who loved the one that died.. the only consolation i can ever offer someone who has lost someone is that i'm sure that that person is in a better place and is no longer suffering.. so for you Nicole McCoy, Rest in Peace and i know you're in a better place..
